Bukit Timah Railway Station

In search for new places to bring the girls, this station came into light. I was looking for a place to take photos of railway tracks and on a photography website, Bukit Timah Railway Station was highly recommended. Since it’s pretty near to our place, I decided to ask the girls’ god-mother to go together.

The station is a passing loop railway station. It opened as a railway station in 1903, but has became a passing loop station in the late 1940s to today. This stations is no longer open for passenger service/ freight services and trains do not stop here, but instead pass by.

The station just looks like a rundown shed in some ulu village or so.

What you are seeing here are the levers which the Station Master will activate if he needs to change the tracks.

See the red and green flag? Just like in the movies right?

The girls were very excited. A journey into something so different from what they would normally see. No HDBs, no cars, no buildings, but just nature and long long railway track.

Sometimes I wish our children can experience some kampong life. It will definitely teach them contentment, a lesson of life that is very valuable especially in an environment that is promoting ‘more is better’. Simple is equally good too.

What is a photography trip to a railway station without photos of the tracks and the surroundings.

Time to go home. Where is the train?
