The oldest existing fire station in Singapore located at Hill Street.
Completed in 1908, the portion that remains from then has been changed into a Heritage Gallery since 2001.
The gallery was really an eye-opener for the girls and ME!! Never knew that there were so many different types of fire-engines. Ranging from the newest to the oldest. All once operational in Singapore. Woo!!
Pay honour to all the firemen and all the different Stations in Singapore. You guys are simply awesome!
The gallery displayed some of the older equipment used by the fire department. If we ever see these on the roads, we will probably think it’s for show. But the fact is they really did roam the streets in the earlier days, even before my own dad was born.
The girls had their fun trying the old tele found in the gallery. Jayne was so amused and thought that it was a microphone for singing.
On the 2nd floor, there were more items on display. And also some scenes re-enactment to teach the people what to do during a real fire situation. Quite a good place to bring older kids for an education trip.
Best of all, they even have a corner for the children to wear the fireman uniform for photos. Check out the Kuan Family Fire-girls!
The entire trip took less than an hour, but I think the girls enjoyed it. Time for home…
