Singapore General Elections 2011

And so a new 5 year term begins for all the newly elected MPs. I sincerely wish and pray that all of you will make a good MP and bring Singapore forward to a better future.

What have I learnt in this 2011 elections? No doubt GE 2011 has been one of the most talked about General Elections. 82 out of 87 seats are being contested by the Opposition Parties. A total of 27 constituencies, made up of 12 SMCs and 15 GRCs.

Still I have not attended any rallies by any political party. Partly, it is just too troublesome to bring 2 young kids to the rallies.

Some interesting lines mentioned in GE 2011:
”I don’t know what to say”
”Driver and Co-driver”
”Chio Bu! Chio Bu!”
”You will have 5 years to repent”
”I need to go to IKEA and buy a new cabinet”

With the power of social media like Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, etc… I have come to realised that Singapore has really changed. People are so vocal nowadays and so willing to express their views publicly. Is that good or bad? On one hand, we do encourage our kids to be more vocal and express their desires to know more. But yet, being too upfront is not a good trait too.

Joey is only 5 years old, I’m quite sure when she is 21, she will surely have the chance to vote. But now, she can only choose according to her likes and dislikes. She likes Red. *side-track…she is a true Liverpool fan, what can you expect? =D*

Congrats to PAP, successfully getting back to power as the ruling party. Congrats to WP, successfully making history in Singapore and won 6 seats in parliament.

To all elected MPs, please take care of us well and we will see you all again in 2016.
