For more than 20 years, I have not stepped into Jurong Bird Park. So the week before school reopens for Joey, we brought her and the rest of the family for an outdoor trip. The weather was gorgeous and we spent 6 hours at the park.
The Bird Park has indeed changed a lot! In my opinion, this park is definitely comparable with the famous Zoological Park. Right at the taxi drop off point, we were greeted by these beautiful parrots. The colours are so striking and bright. If you want, there are professional photographers stationed there to take a photo of you and the birds for about S$15. My suggestion is use your own camera, does the same thing too.
If you are a photography enthusiastic, this place is full of beautiful things for you to shoot. I am so enticed by the different colours all around me. Like these orchids.
Introducing the birds…
The Black Swan is a large waterbird which breeds mainly in Australia.
The Mandarin Ducks mostly referred by the Chinese as 鸳鸯, represents a life-time couple, traditionally used in Chinese weddings as they symbolises bliss and fidelity.
The King Penguin is the 2nd tallest and heaviest of all living penguin. He was truly standing like an king, not twitching a bit for all of us to take his photos.
The Shoebill lives mainly in tropical East Africa. This bird actually reminds me of some similar-looking creature in Harry Potter’s movies.
The Nankeen Night Heron aka Rufous Night Heron is usually found in Australia. Interesting fact is this particular bird lays green coloured eggs. Cool!
The Scarlet Ibis inhabits in tropical South America. For some general knowledge, the Scarlet Ibis is the national bird of Trinidad. Though in my photo, I do think it looks like a heart-shaped object on stick.
The girls were brave enough to lure the birds with their hands.
But eventually the smell deters them and we left for the next show.
