Phnom Penh - Sisowath Quay

On this post I will focus on Sisowath Quay. I would recommend tourists to definitely visit this stretch of street when you visit the capital city of Cambodia, cos this is where you can find good food for cheap prices, and also the boutique shops selling clothing and souvenirs are pretty interesting and decent.

No point leaving your hotel (wherever you are staying) in Phnom Penh in the early hours, you would rather spend the morning sleeping in late and enjoy a good breakfast or maybe go for a dip in the pool, or work out in the gym if you can. Leaving the place around 10am would be timing. You will be in time for some window shopping and maybe an early lunch. Remember there isn’t much sight-seeing in the city so, just take your time in everything you do and relax.

TheRiverfront Area aka Sisowath Quay is lined with dozens of restaurants and bars and a range of hotels. Amongst the restaurants, you will find several silk and souvenir shops, massage shops and a few travel agents for day-trips around Phnom Penh.

One famous sight along the Sisowath Quay is this line of flags along the river. A great place to just sit down and enjoy the breeze (Phnom Penh is about 20-24 degree in temperature towards the year end).

For a hygiene-freak like my mother, for her to sit on the grass is a sure sign that the place is good enough to stay for a while and enjoy the scene.

Cross the road and you will find the row of shops and restaurants all ready to take off a few dollars from your wallet. See the huge Costa Coffee sign? Lattes for only US$4 for a large cup, really nice!

With kids, it’s always a treat for them to stop by one of their favourite, cupcakes.

2 cups of coffee and 2 cakecups for US$5.

The captain was kind enough to let the girls take over the wheel for a while, thankfully none of the guests were too concerned when the 2 small girls were steering the boat.

Great night of family time and food. It was only 7 plus when we left the boat and the sky is already pitch dark.

More to come in the next few posts. Keep up!
