Singapore Restaurant Week allows diner to pay a fixed amount ($25/pax for lunch or $35/pax for dinner) and enjoy the best combo of the food the restaurant has to offer. My dear wife chose Violet Oon’s Kitchen because the reviews and recommendations online and from friends were very good.

This was the menu we get to choose from for Restaurant Week.

Starter – Smoked Duck with Mango Salad

I’m not a fan of duck meat, but thankfully to the amazing Mango Salad, the Smoked Duck was simple delicious! Not like the usual strong “duck taste” I have tried before elsewhere.

For main course, we choose a different dish to savor the best of both. Kless chose the Laksa Cod while I ordered the Beef Chabek. Violet Oon’s is actually a Peranakan restaurant, so it’s not surprisingly that their dishes are more localized and very suitable for us.

Dessert – Chocolate and Coconut Panna Cotta

What came as a surprise was the extra treat that was served to us. Didn’t even get the name of the dessert but the chocolate was awesome!

Loved the food, I think we will be bringing our parents for the next visit and try out more of their authentic Peranakan cuisines.

  1. I really like your writing style and it is a great post. If you are an expat and plan on moving to Singapore, you may want to check out www.placematch.sg. I found it to be very useful in finding a place.
